Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has commended security agencies in the country for their commitment and sacrifice for the protection of lives and property of Nigerians.
The governor who particularly acknowledged the agencies for their focus on protecting the people of Benue State against armed Fulani herdsmen attacks, noted that, at the moment, there is relative peace in the state, due to the commitment.
Addressing the delegation of Nigeria Defence College (NDC), Abuja Monday who are on a study tour of Benue State, at the Conference Hall, Governor’s Lodge, Benue People’s House, Makurdi, Governor Ortom pointed out that, the theme for this year’s tour of the state; Science and Technology is a good one.
According to him, since what the country and particularly, Benue State needed at this time is scientific and technological knowledge to improve agricultural mechanization and establishment of agriculture processing companies, the theme is apt.
Governor Ortom appreciated the College for the visit and promised to continue collaborating them for the progress and development of the state.
Earlier, leader of delegation from Nigeria Defence College, Abuja, Brig Gen. A.E. Abubakar said Benue State and other four states which include: Adamawa, Delta, Sokoto and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja are selected for this year’s tour with a theme: Science and Technology.
Brig. Gen. Abubakar said, the tour in Benue State would enable the college to assess the great endowments in the state, as well as provide scientific and technological impact to make them meaningful to the people of the state.
He explained that, members of the college came from Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo and other parts of African countries and they had versatile knowledge both in military and civilian aspects to impact to any society.
The Brig. Gen. thanked Governor Ortom for his developmental strides and commitment to the security of his people, while he assured him of total partnership to succeed.
