Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has described his wife, Dr Eunice Ortom as a gift to humanity. The governor, who thanked God for his wife said, “she is not just a wife but a mother and a sister to me.
Governor Ortom stated this Sunday during a thanksgiving service in honour of the First Lady, Dr Ortom to mark her 50th birthday anniversary and launching for the completion of church project at St Peter’s Quasi-Parish, Aondona, Gwer West Local Government Area.
He expressed appreciation to the Catholic Bishop of Makurdi Diocese, Wilfred Anagbe and the church for the love, prayers and support to ensure that the right thing was done at all times.
The governor particularly commended Bishop Anagbe for the support he has given to humanity through his effective leadership and encouraged the people to always support humanity the way the Catholic Church was doing.
Earlier, in a homily, Bishop Anagbe said it was important for Christians to fortify themselves spiritually.
“We need to sharpen our spiritual energy.
“As Christians, we have every reason to thank God for his wonderful works in our lives. We are alive by the grace of God. Each day, week and months is the pure grace of God,” he stated.
He lamented the precarious security situation in the country, stating that, sadly the Federal Government was not doing anything tangible to address the challenges.
“In this country, if you survive one day, it is the Grace of God. When you go out and come back, give glory to God for seeing you through,” he said.
The bishop also thanked God for his goodness to him and the Church.
The governor and his wife commissioned a block of male and female ward at St Veronica’s Clinic operated by the Catholic Church which was built by the state government.
