Gov Ortom presents vehicles to Vice Chairmen  …as trained youths get start-up kits

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, Tuesday at the premises of the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi presented vehicles to the 23 local government Vice Chairmen in the state.  He also donated a bus each to the Tor Tiv, Och’Idoma’s palaces and industrial unions in the state.

The governor who described local government vice chairmen as very critical in local government administration, said the vehicles will aid them in the discharge of their duties.

Governor Ortom commended the local government chairmen for making funds available for the purchase of the vehicles for the vice chairmen, stating that, there was every need for them to be mobile. He urged them to make judicious use of the vehicles as they carry out their duties.

Responding on behalf of the Vice Chairmen, the Vice Chairman of Makurdi Local Government Area, Frank Gbashinya thanked the governor for the kind gesture and assured him of their commitment towards the success of this administration.

Meanwhile, Governor Ortom has presented certificates and startup kits to 43 Benue indigenes who graduated from Innoson Kiara Academy, Nnewi in Anambra State.

He congratulated the graduands on the successful completion of their training, stating that they have made the state proud as they distinguished themselves and charged them to make good use of the knowledge acquired while encouraging them to become employers of labour.

“Make good use of the knowledge acquired so that you can expand and add value to the development of the state. We believe that you will engage other youths for them to also benefit from the knowledge gained”, he stressed.

Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Ken Achabo, in his opening remarks, thanked the governor for creating opportunities for the youths in the state and providing the funds for the training of 50 youths who were selected from the 23 local governments in the state at the Innoson vehicles company on various parts of automobile repairs. He urged the youths to make great use of the knowledge acquired.

The Adviser explained that forty three (43) out of the fifty (50) nominees successfully graduated from four (4) different spheres of auto-oriented disciplines such as Auto Mechanic, Auto-Electrical and Electronic, Auto-Fabrication & Welding, and Auto-Spray Painting. He disclosed that seven (7) of the nominees voluntarily withdrew from the program due to their inability to cope with the intensity of the training.

Barr. Achabo said that the trainees obtained three different certificates which include certificates in industrial training and area of specialty both issued by Innoson Kiara Academy and the NABTEB certificate issued by the Technical Board. “Complete sets of modern start-up kits worth fourteen million, seven hundred and twenty thousand naira (N14,720,000) from the different auto-oriented disciplines were purchased for the 43 graduands as an empowerment and
