Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, has condemned the attack on the residence of the former Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku in Akwanga Local Government Area ( LGA) of the state by unknown gunmen.

The Voice reports that heavily armed men, invaded the residence of Mr Maku, on Saturday night and left three security guards brutally injured.

Sule in a statement issued on Sunday by his Senior Special Assistant ( SSA) on Public Affairs, Comrade Peter Ahemba, described the incident as unfortunate.

The governor noted that he had directed the Police and other security agencies in the state to ensure that the perpetrators were apprehended .

“The State Government is already partnering with the top Military Command, the Police and other Para-military agencies to ensure that the bandits fleeing from other parts of the country as a result of military offensive do not have a hiding place in Nasarawa State.

“The Governor, on behalf of the Government and people of Nasarawa State, extends his deepest sympathy to the former Minister of Information over the unfortunate incident and to the injured security personnel, who were on duty at the time of the invasion,” he said.

Sule reassured that , as a responsible government, his administration would continue to place a high premium on protecting people’s lives and property as well as the general welfare of the citizens.

He warned criminal elements acting under whatever guise to desist from their wicked deeds, saying there was no place for them to hide in the state.
