Gov Sule, speaker, others bag award of excellence in Nasarawa

Governor Abdullahi Sule has been bestowed with an award of excellence  as Ambassador of Peace and Justice by youths in Umaisha Development Area of Toto Local Government for his effort in building peace among the diverse cultural groups in the state.

The youths, under the aegis of Umaisha Political Central Association (UPCA) also honoured the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, who represents Umaisha/Ugya state constituency in the Assembly, with an award as the Best Man/leader of the Year award.

The President of UPCA, Comrade Ibrahim Yunusa Karika, while honouring Governor Sule, Balarabe-Abdullahi and two others yesterday in Toto Local Government said, the awards were  based on their outstanding leadership qualities.

Comrade Karika lauded the governor’s performance in building peace among communities in the state, as well as in  the area of infrastructural development, among others.

“Today, we are honouring His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule with an award of excellence as Ambassador of Peace and Justice while our own Rt. Hon. Speaker of the state legislature, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi as the Best Man/leader of the  Year award of Excellence.

“We the youths in Umaisha Development Area are proud of Governor Abdullahi Sule and Rt Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi leadership styles, hence the need of the awards, ” he said.

He assured the governor and the speaker of their unalloyed support and prayers to enable them succeed.

Speaking, Balarabe-Abdullahi, who received his award and that of the governor, appreciated the youths of the area for finding them worthy of the awards.

He assured them of his continued determination to bring speedy development and peace to the area and the state at large.

His words: “I want to assure you that I will personally present His Excellency’s award to him in Government House, Lafia. I will brief him on what happened here accordingly. I am highly overwhelmed.

“You took me by surprise, I am short of words, and today I must tell you is one of the happiest moments in my life.

“On my part, you are aware of what I have done towards impacting on your lives positively.

“As a leader, I welcome criticism but let it be positive and constructive criticism and I know that I have touched and am still touching your lives through my various projects and programmes.

“I cannot solve the problems of all of you at once, let’s continue to be patient, in order to enjoy the much needed dividends of democracy.

“I want to advise you to embrace education as it is the bed rock of every society.

The speaker appealed to the youths of the area to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities, parents and  elders so that they can receive blessings and prosper in life.

He also called on them to continue to support Governor Sule’s administration to enable him succeed, even as he charged them to live in peace and tolerate one another, for the over all development of the state.

Other awardees were Ohimege Opanda, Alh. Usman Abdullahi who was awarded as a Dynamic Leader, considering his contributions to peace and development of the area while the Chairman of Toto LG, Prince Nuhu Adamu Dauda bagged the award of LG Peace Maker.
