The Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal has said ranching is the best form of animal husbandry, which will end the conflicts between herdsmen and farmers.

Governor Tambuwal disclosed this in a chat with journalists, shortly after he met with Governor Samuel Ortom in Abuja recently.

He said, he has already re-activated the programme initiated by his predecessor, which attempted to import some species of cows from Argentina, which he noted his administration has completed by importing various species for ranching.

Governor Tambuwal maintained that, Sokoto State has also earmarked 17 grazing areas in the state and provided them with infrastructure, such as water to ensure that, herdsmen don’t roam about with their cattle.

He clarified that, his meeting with his  counterpart from Benue State, Governor Ortom is not to consult him on any political matters but to discuss on issues that can improve the security and general well-being of the people.

Governor Tambuwal who wished Governor Ortom well, maintained that, the visit was necessitated by the governor overcoming the COVID-19 disease and coming out of isolation, having earlier tested negative for the disease.
