The statement mentioned others to be honoured with Icon of Peace award as; the Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Engr Adeoye Fadeyibi, AVM Monday Morgan (Rtd), former Chief of Defense Intelligence of the Armed Forces, Alh. Muhammed Shehu, Mallam Shittu Kabir, Engr Olushola Akintola, Joseph Oche and the Minister for State FCT, Dr Ramatu Aliyu.

Others include; Minister, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Deputy Women Leader, Hajiya Zainab Ibrahim, Chief Gabriel Gbayan, Director National Audit, Matthew Burkaa SAN, President ALGON, Kolade Alabi, Director General, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Alh. Salihu Dembos, Jonathan Gbefi, Cp Balarabe Sule, HRH Dr Shehu Yamusa and Bishop Israel Ofunne.

The statement explained that GAPU recognises peace builders who have made substantial contributions in preventing conflict, combatting violence and building peace, hence the awards.

“The award is bestowed upon distinguished individual(s) who have made substantial contributions to maintaining peace, contributions that have led in direct ways to improving the human condition.

“The recipients have demonstrated through their accomplishments their commitment to service for the greater good of the society,” the statement concluded.
