The Ochetoha K’Idoma youth wing, an umbrella union of Idoma youths has called on Idoma elite to show capacity and take over the Benue Burnt Bricks, Otukpo and Star Cement Company, Igumale in the course of the privatisation exercise by Governor Samuel Ortom.
The President of the association, Comrade Obande Gideon who made the call on Tuesday stated that, the move by the governor of the state has presented the Idoma nation the opportunity to show capacity, unity and also demonstrate coherence by taking over the Benue Burnt Bricks and Star Cement Company with the aim of creating jobs for the teeming youths of Benue South.
Obande maintained that, it will be unfortunate and disgraceful, if the people from the area fold their hands and watch people from other places take over these companies. He therefore, urged all Idoma leaders, technocrats, local government councils, business moguls amongst others, to rise up to the challenge. “Idoma must posses their possession as a people,” he stated.
The union leader further mentioned that, the Ochetoha K’Idoma youth wing shall set-up a consultative committee to deliberate and approach some of their prominent sons and daughters to buy off the other phases.
The comrade observed that, it is better to take a bold step now and avoid the scenario where his people will cry out for marginalization.
