Unknown gunmen yesterday, Sunday, 24th September, 2023 abducted the Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Matthew Abo from his residence at Zaki-Biam in Ukum Local Government Area of the state.
Investigations by The Voice revealed that, the gunmen numbering about eight, using four different brands of motorcycles storm the house of Hon. Abo and ordered at gun point, everyone in the sitting room to lie down, including his wife, children and other members of the family who came to visit him.
The Voice further gathered that, the incident which occurred at about 7:30 – 8:00pm took every member of the family by surprise as the commissioner barely returned from Makurdi after the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal’s judgement last Saturday, 23rd, September, 2023.
Hon Abo, The Voice gathered, was whisked away by his abductors at gun point where he was forced to sit in-between two of them on one of the motorcycles before they zoomed off to unknown destination.
All efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Benue State Police command failed as she could neither pick her calls nor respond to text message.
It would be recalled that Hon. Abo was sworn in as a member of the Benue State Executive Council on August 29th, 2023.
He hails from Ukum Local Government Area which has been a major flashpoint of criminal activities with rampant killings and kidnappings in recent times.
