No fewer than 14 persons have been killed by suspected bandits in renewed attacks on two Benue communities.
The two separate attacks which took place in Mchia and Mou communities of Logo and Guma Local Government Areas on Wednesday night, left 15 others with various degree of injuries.
The Special Adviser to the Benue State governor, Col Paul Hemba (Rtd) disclosed this Thursday at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi while briefing journalists.
According to him, “armed bandits attacked Mchia village in Logo Local Government Area and killed 12. Two (2) others were also killed in Mou village of the same local government area while 15 persons were left injured.
The security adviser explained that when information about the attacks was received by security operatives, the attackers had already withdrawn to their hideout.
Hemba said the bandits on the same day, tried attacking Ortese and Nkohol communities of Guma Local Government Area but met stiff resistance from men of Operation Whirl Stroke, who laid arm bush for the bandits, following an earlier intelligence report on the planned attacks.
“Officers of Operation Whirl Stroke reportedly killed some members of the bandits in the Guma confrontation but the attackers went away with their causalities,” he stated.
