The Benue State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Joseph Ngbea has called on the people of Benue State to come out for COVID-19 immunisation voluntarily, in order to kill the virus’ aggressive effects.
Dr Ngbea made this call in a chat with newsmen shortly after the Benue State Executive Council approved the flag-off of vaccination against COVID-19 recently at the New Banquet Hall, Benue People’s House, Makurdi.
The COVID-19 immunisation in the state is a voluntary exercise,” Dr Ngbea stated.
He said the flag-off of the COVID-19 vaccination would take place today (Thursday, 18 March, 2021) at 10:00AM near the Isolation centre of Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.
According to Dr Ngbea, there is no drug that does not have a side effect, adding that even drugs for malaria, cough and many others have side effects, however, he encouraged the people to come out in their numbers to take the vaccine.
On her part, the spokesperson of the EXCO and Commissioner for Information Culture and Tourism, Mrs Ngunan Addingi, confirmed the flag-off of the exercise but however, explained that taking the vaccine is voluntary.
