Unknown arsonists suspected to be political thugs have set ablaze the house of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain from Buruku Local Government, Akaa Lim.
The incidence reportedly took place recently at the Gboko East area where the Buruku PDP chieftain’s house is situated.
The Voice gathered that the sad incident took place few days after the victim received a car gift from Governor Samuel Ortom for campaign purposes.
Further investigation revealed that the fire victim is Governor Ortom’s staunch supporter, especially in the ongoing rift between Ayu versus Ortom and G-5 governors.
Reacting to the incident, Lim thanked God for sparing peoples lives in the fire outbreak and prayed God for more divine protection and guidance.
He insisted it was a planned attack and described the inferno as work of opposition, noting that the arsonists set the house ablaze after they had vandalized properties worth millions of naira.
“I was in Makurdi yesterday to receive a car gift from the Governor and this morning I received calls from sympathizers informing me of the shocking news that my house was burning. What I see here is possible that the house was burned down and I attributed it to the handwork of opposition. You know we have oppositions both intra and inter party,” he said.
Meanwhile, efforts to get reaction from the Nigeria Police was futile as at press time, however, an eye witness, one Mrs Vaatia said the fire outbreak which its cause can not be associated with electrical fault started around 10am when most of the occupants were not at home.
