Jeffrey Kuraun says he remains the validly nominated gubernatorial candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the March 18, 2023 elections in Benue State.
He stated this in an interaction with The Voice Politics.
Kuraun, who hails from Mbaduku in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State said he is in the race with a clear vision to salvage the deplorable condition of the state.
According to him, the current state of affairs in the state require a man with a vision, character and the political will to make positive changes that will impact on the lives and economy of the state.
He said as an agrarian State, he would aggressively pursue agricultural value chain that would add value on agricultural production whereby markets would be created with good network of roads.
This, he explained would give rise to establishment of cottage industries for processing and boost storage facilities through the public- private- partnership.
Accordingly, the gubernatorial candidate said he would ensure that enough fertilizers and pesticides as well as other farm applications are provided enough to encourage and boost agricultural production which he noted is the God given resource for the people.
Other areas of attention utmost importance to the Candidate include solid mineral development, where, he disclosed Benue has 34 solid mineral deposits and he would direct energies for the exploration to expand the state’s economic base.
The SDP candidate also promised to tackle the menace of insecurity and the persistent Fulani/ herders attacks saying that he has a clear mapped out strategy to improve on the security situation of the state.
He therefore advised Benue people to look out for the person with capacity and the political will and vision so as not to push the state aground.
The gubernatorial ticket of the party has been a matter of controversy between Jeffrey Kuraun and James Mede but the party collaborated his story saying it has resolved the matter internally and INEC duly notified to effect necessary changes even as the matter was still in court.
The SDP Benue State Chapter Secretary, Hon Stephen Dzapine who cleared the doubts with The Voice Politics expressed hope that the party would go into the race as a united body.
Jeffrey Kuraun disclosed that he is an Oil and Gas Expert, a Management Consultant with Experience both in Private and Public Service. He is a Humanitarian and Philanthropist, An advocate of women empowerment and girl-child education, a man with proven track records in Democratic/Participative Leadership and community service.
