New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Presidential Candidate for the 2023 elections, Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has frowned at government borrowing to run administrations in the country.

Engr Kwankwaso said he will not borrow but use the resources the country is blessed with to change the fortunes of Nigeria if elected into office as President in 2023.

The NNPP candidate stated this Sunday in an interaction with pressmen at the Presidential Lodge of Government House, Makurdi, Benue State.

Engr Kwankwaso, who was in the state to inspect and commission NNPP offices admitted that the country was facing big problems.

He said it is sad and unfortunate that the country’s current earnings at present were all going into servicing of debts.

“I am sure you know my history in government, I am somebody who does not believe in borrowing money. I am somebody who believes in managing what we have. As Governor of Kano State in 1999, I inherited a lot of debts. In four years I was able to pay and did all the projects and programmes from what we had. I left also after eight years I was able to come back and inherit millions of debts and within four years I was able to zero it and did all the projects and programmes out of my income in the state.

“That is why I keep telling everybody who cares that in this country we have enough money to do everything either as state government or federal government because we have proved it,” he stated.

He said he would do many things from stabilizing the politics, power, infrastructure, education and most especially, corruption among others which are necessary tools for the advancement of development in the country.

According to him, “unless corruption is checked we will continue to go the way we are going now.”

He said God has blessed the country with very fertile soil and natural rain fall which makes agriculture to thrive amidst mineral resources, noting that all that the country needed was good leadership.

The presidential candidate called on Nigerians to investigate and assess him on what he did in Kano State in all sectors, saying for Benue it would be an opportunity for the youths to get jobs.

While he expressed hope of sustained improvement in the conduct of elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the country, Engr Kwankwaso said what the generality of the people of Nigeria needed to end restiveness such as farmers/ herders crises was empowerment of everybody.

He noted however, that government unfortunately missed opportunities in the past, saying once all agencies created by government are working there will be no room for crisis.

The presidential candidate while in the state paid a visit on the Tor Tiv, HRM, James Ayatse before returning to Abuja.
