The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Board Member representing North/Central, Margaret Icheen has stated her resolve to contribute to the uplift of football in Nigeria.

Icheen gave this assurance when she played host to members of Kwande Referees Society (KRS) when they paid her a solidarity visit at her Makurdi residence recently.

The board member acknowledged that so many aspects of the sports sector, especially in area of football, have suffered setback, due to bad administration.

“It is a great privilege that I have been appointed as a Board Member of NFF and I assure you that I will put in my best to ensure that football administration in Nigeria is given the needed attention, in order to achieve the desired goals,” she said.

“Football is a family game which if well managed, will go a long way in fostering unity and peaceful coexistence,” she added.

On the issue of football refereeing, Icheen noted the key roles played by referees in the game, even as she assured that she will ensure referees in the state are carried along in the scheme of things, as far as football in Nigeria is concerned.

She expressed appreciation to members of the KRS for deeming it necessary to identify with her on her new appointment, while assuring that she will do every thing within her power to take the society to higher heights.

“Even though my office oversees the whole of North/Central Nigeria, it is important that I pay special attention to football administration in Benue, particularly Kwande Local Government Area where I come from,” she summed.

Earlier, the Chairman KRS, Mr Terna Peter, who was leader of the team, explained that they were at Icheen’s residence to congratulate her on her new appointment which he described as well deserved.

Speaking further, Peter said “with the heights you have attained in various spheres of life, we sincerely hope and pray that your wealth of experience would be exploited for the good of Nigerian sports lovers in general and Kwande in particular.”

He assured her of their unflinching support, even as he prayed God to grant her the wisdom to carry out her responsibilities effectively.
