The governorship candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Abdullahi Maidoya has promised to grant free education to both primary and secondary school students, if elected governor come 2023.
Maidoya made the promise during a media dialogue at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) press centre in Lafia on Sunday.
The NNPP governorship candidate said he will ensure that qualitative free education is granted to enable the children become better future leaders.
He also promised to grant full autonomy to local government areas in the state if he becomes the governor of the state.
According to him, granting full autonomy to local government will enable the councils chairmen function effectively for development to thrive at the grassroots.
“I will ensure that local governments have full autonomy so that they can be people oriented and execute projects that will have direct bearing on the lives of the people at the grassroots.
“Building of carriage is the responsibility of local government and other projects at local government level is the responsibility of chairmen of local government.
“That is what I am going to do, if elected as governor of the state come 2023,” he said.
The NNPP governorship candidate also assured that he will create job opportunities to the unemployed youths and other people of the state.
“We have large numbers of unemployed youths and other people. My administration will create job opportunities to our unemployed people,” Maidoya said.
Maidoya pledged to make the state economic viable for the overall development of the state.
The gubernatorial candidate further pledged to prioritize security, agriculture, solid minerals among other sectors.
He, called on the people of the state to support him and all other candidates of the NNPP in the 2023 general elections.
The Voice reports that the media dialogue had also in attendance Mr Sidi Bako, state NNPP Chairman, Barr Innocent Lagi, the former Commissioner for Justice, who is the Director General of Maidoya Campaign Organisation among others.
