In his manifesto titled, “Reformation beyond boundaries: Leading Benue State University Alumni into a Radiant Future”, he stressed that the essence of an alumni is to bring together graduates of the university and create a platform to socialise and bring development into the institution.
He maintained that, “My academic excellence, global exposure and leadership roles position me as the catalyst needed to propel BSUAA to greater heights. My commitment to our alma mater and proven track record make me the most qualified candidate”, he said.
Prof. Ikyo promised that his leadership will bring on board an empowering legacy and chart a course for excellence, saying he will harness his global connection to bear, leading Benue State University Alumni into a Radiant Future.
He stated that he saw the presidency of BSUAA as a unique opportunity to impact the alumni community substantially, adding that he will initiate ideas that will not only benefit members but also contribute to the flourishing of the institution.
Speaking to newsmen, the centre leader of CEFTER, revealed that if voted in as president of BSUAA, the association would create a transcript desk officer that would support the University in addressing the challenge associated with the issuing of transcripts, noting that being part of the system he has identified where the gap lies and would work with the institution to prompt the issuing of transcripts.
In his acceptance speech, the Director General of Prof. Ikyo campaign council, Dr. Shadrack Teryila Ukuma in his acceptance speech, thanked Prof. Ikyo for the opportunity given to them to be part of the journey that will reposition the alumni association, which he said, will ensure inclusion and ensure development of the institution.
Dr. Ukuma pledged the support of the campaign council and commitment to the course, assuring that the campaign council will adopt a networking marketing strategy that will yield the needed population and even continue the followership even after the candidate wins and is been sworn into office.
“We are selling a marketable product, we are running on the record, Prof. Ikyo is one of the key functionaries in one of the key institutes on that campus, we are selling a product that we are sure of what we are selling”, he said.
There were several goodwill messages from various personalities who gave their support towards the candidature of Prof. Barnabas Ikyo and prayed God to see him through.
