The Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has reiterated the commitment of his administration, to reviving the Inter Local Government football competition in the state.
Governor Alia disclosed this during the one hundred days in office of his administration, in Makurdi. He reiterated that, “I want the Inter Local Government football competition to be back again as well as the Governor Cup, and it is going to take immediate effect”.
He explained that it was his desire to push the young and talented people up so that the name of Benue would take its rightful place in sports, particularly, football development in the country. He noted that, ” I want to see the young people who are up to the task in football, we will push them up so that Benue will take its proper place”.
Rev Fr Alia who also declared that his administration would also support the female teams just as the male teams stressed that, “the girls team, should also be supported so that our girls too who are talented can reach the skies because at the end of the day, wherever they go they can bring what they have to the state and that would make sense”.
He said they would also pay particular attention to the All Secondary Schools Games, in order to harvest talents saying, ” the All Secondary Schools Games too will be back so that we are going to harvest all these talents”.
