Following inconclusive results in the Wednesday APC delegates election, and fear of possible violent demonstration by aggrieved members, a stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ahamed Nazif has called for calm.
Alh. Nazif, a one time commissioner for information in Plateau State made the appeal during a press conference held at Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Plateau state Council Press Centre, Jos, on Thursday.
The APC party stalwart, a former member of the Plateau state House of Assembly, who represented Jos North, stated that: “APC is a peaceful political party, I’m here to appeal to our teaming supporters to remain calm and await the outcome of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the inconclusive primaries.”
It will be recalled that the electoral panel which presided over the said APC party primaries in Plateau state declared the delegate election inclusive, because two aspirants got a tie of 344 votes each.
The Voice gathered that there have been agitations by some members of the APC who are planning to demonstrate against the decision of the electoral panel, that some persons within the APC allegedly masterminded the decision of the electoral panel.
When asked if he was aware of the petition against one of the aspirant, Suleiman Kwande, the APC stakeholder said he was not aware, but explained that such petition can not stand.
“I’m not aware of any petition yet, but should that be true, why petitioning an aspirant after primaries?” Nazif questioned.
