The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has displayed credentials of governorship candidates of various political parties for the 2023 general elections in Benue State.
Displayed alongside are credentials of the parties’ running mates.
In an interaction with The Voice Politics, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) INEC Benue State, Mr Terkaa Andyar said “the display is for claims and objections on credentials of aspirants to the governorship seat.”
He explained that since it was the parties that conducted their screening and primaries, INEC has to provide room for such exercise for the public to establish the genuineness and veracity of their submissions.
Among those whose credentials have been displayed are the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Titus Uba and his running mate, John Ngbede, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate and his running mate, Prof. Bem Angwe and Comfort Ogbaji, All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia and Isaac Vembeh, Young Progressives Party’s (YPP) Orya Roberts and Agaba Fidel and Labour Party’s (LP) Herman Hembe and Christopher Onyiloyi.
Other parties that have featured are All People’s Party (APP) Agev Terver and Agada Princess, Zenith Labour Party’s (ZLP) John Tsuwa and Michael Ogaba, among others.
Meanwhile, INEC has expressed belief that all eligible voters would be registered to enable them exercise their franchise in the 2023 general elections as registration closes this week.
