Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Matthew Abo, has reminded staff of the ministry and its parastatals of the important role they are expected to play in shaping the image of the state government.
Hon. Abo spoke last Thursday at the conference hall of the ministry after taking over from the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Godwin Tighil.
He said he was in the Ministry to protect the interest of government and called on staff to unite and cooperate with him to give the government a good image.
He assured the staff that he would always take their problems to the State Executive Council for solutions.
The commissioner however, warned that he would not tolerate late coming to work and fraud, noting that with hard work, one can legitimately earn money. Even if he does not earn much, he observed, God would reward him in other ways.
Speaking before handing over, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Godwin Tighil, noted that the ministry had been operating without a father in the last three months. He added that the staff are now happy that they now have a father who will take their problems and issues to the State Executive Council for necessary action.
Responding on behalf of parastatals under the ministry, the Director-General, Radio Benue, Dr. Charles Iornumbe, pledged the support of all heads of the agencies to the commissioner.
He expressed the belief that Hon. Abo is a man who will not want to fail, and would succeed in executing the mandate of the ministry.
In attendance at the handing over ceremony were the management teams of the ministry and its six parastatals.
