Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University (JOSTUM) Makurdi, has began shopping for a new Vice Chancellor (VC).
The outgoing VC, Prof. Richard Kimbir made this known during an emergency meeting of Deans and Directors convened to consider and approve the revised academic calendar for second semester upon the school’s resumption.
“The position of a Vice Chancellor of the university has been advertised already, given that I have four weeks left to the end of my tenure,” he said.
He informed them that a nomination and interview panel is to be set up soon for the appointments.
Kimbir also appealed to members of the academic staff of the university to put in more efforts, in order to round up teaching within the time frame of the reviewed academic calendar for second semester.
He lamented that so much time has been lost in the eight months strike but was optimistic that with staff sacrifice, the lost grounds will be covered.
The meeting approved a revised second semester calendar which implementation has started, with a call to all returning students to resume on Sunday, October 23 and commence registration immediately.
The Vice Chancellor further assured that his administration will continue to ensure a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.
