It is no longer news that the Vice Chancellor of the Benue State University, Makurdi, Professor Joseph Tor Iorapuu has approved the appointment of Nigeria’s football legend, Moses Akuha Kpakor as the Sports Co-ordinator of the university.
Voicesports reports that Coach Kpakor’s appointment has attracted wide commendations from all the strata of football followers.
It is best described as putting a round peg in a round hole.
The Kwande born former Nigeria international possesses rich football attributes that cannot be easily quantified.
He played football to it’s pinnacle and also coached football teams.
Kpakor talks football. He is a versatile football administrator and indeed, a master of the art.
Kpakor comes from the football oriented family of Late Pa Kpakor Adagi of Mbaikyan, Nanev in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.
His two older brothers, Kwaghgba Kpakor and Terfa Kpakor of blessed memory, were the pacesetters, but Moses became the most famous.
In their separate views, some of his teammates including Tom Ichull, Samuel Addingi, Samaila Addo, Tunde Adadara, Justin Tenger all described him as being a very intelligent, sound and technical footballer during his career.
The prized midfielder started his career from a modest background at a tender age with the defunct Kwande Greater Tomorrow, Adikpo under the watchful eyes of SCI Akpoo of blessed memory after which he moved to Hawks FC Makurdi, now Lobi Stars and then to Dynamos FC Jos.
He further traded with the famous BCC Lions Football Club, Gboko, the Benue Cement Football outfit then moved to Abiola Babes Football Club of Abeokuta. He also played in Cameroon.
The Midfield dynamite embodies the spirit at BCC Lions FC Gboko. His tireless work rate and leadership inspired five FA cup titles out of the six finals he played in Nigeria; titles won with BCC Lions in 1989,1993,1994 and 1997 while he lifted the 1987 title in the colours of Abiola Babes.
He further won the prestigious Mandela Cup now christened CAF Confederation Cup during his days with BCC Lions in 1990.
A highly decorated player, Kpakor has numerous caps with the national team, the Super Eagles.
He was among the squad that won the Silver medal at the Algiers 1990 edition of the African Cup of Nations and made history with the Desert Warriors of Algeria danger man, Rabah Madger, while his exploit at the AFCON 1990 did not go on noticed as he was among those named in the CAT’s beast eleven of the tournament.
