Former gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the Social Democratic, SDP, in Benue State, Dr Jeffrey Kuraun has urged people of the state and the North Central Nigeria, to rally round their son, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Distinguished Senator (Dr) George Akume to enable him discharge his duties creditably.
Dr Kuraun made the call in an exclusive chat with The Voice Politics today via phone.
He said that the position of SGF is central in the life of every administration and is capable of attracting huge Democratic dividends to the people, therefore, Benue people in particular must shove aside all parochial interest and key behind the SGF to achieve maximum benefits.
According to him, for the President to have considered bestowing such confidence and trust in Senator Akume who is a distinguished son of the State and the North Central Nigeria was enough hope for the people.
He therefore expressed satisfaction with President Bola Tinubu led administration saying, it was an indication of prosperity to the people and country.
Dr Kuraun emphasized that the position of SGF was a golden opportunity that must not be played with. He advised Benue sons in positions of leadership to unite and and key behind the SGF in the overall interest of the State.
The former governorship aspirant who recently resigned from the SDP on the grounds that the party was not a veritable platform has since rejoined the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Dr Kuraun in an exclusive chat with The Voice Politics said, “the decision to resign my membership of the SDP is not for myself but for the people I seek to serve. This is why I took time before arriving at this logical decision to leave the SDP and go back to my family (the APC) like a prodigal son. I believe that the APC is the only party at the moment that will provide an opportunity for me to serve the good people of Benue and Nigeria at large.
“Like I said, it is like the prodigal son. It was the first party I joined in partisan Politics”, he explained
He advised, ” people should be praying for leaders so that God will give them the enablement to salvage the situation in the country. Now partisan Politics is over, people should be proferring solutions to our common problems not on the basis of party affiliations”, #
