The Member representing Adoka -Ugboju at the Benue State House of Assembly, Michael Audu has condemned the crisis that erupted between Okgligwu and Olahimu communities in Ugboju District of Otukpo Local Government Area recently, leading to burning of houses and destruction of property worth millions of naira.
The lawmaker, who made the condemnation in a press statement personally signed by him on Tuesday and made available to newsmen, advised the communities to shield their sword and embrace peace as no society can develop in an atmosphere of chaos.
He called on the Ugboju Traditional Council, elders and youth to a round table conference and dialogue for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
The statement equally charged the security agencies to deploy her personnel to the community immediately and use their professionalism, in order to nip the crisis in the bud for peaceful co-existence and also bring the perpetrators to face justice to serve as deterrent to others.
“I hereby call on the government and non-governmental organizations, as well as public spirited individuals to come to the aid of the victims,” he said.
The Voice gathered that last Sunday, there was disagreement over an issue involving some members of the two communities which later degenerated into mayhem.
