The Ngoroje representative at the Taraba State House of Assembly, Bashiru Mohammed was early hours of Wednesday, at about 1:30AM kidnapped by unknown gunmen at his Jalingo residence, opposite the State Security Service office in Taraba State.

The Voice gathered from eye witness (unnamed) account that, the said unidentified gunmen were up to 11 in number, heavily armed and shot sporadically for over 40 minutes before they made away with the assembly member from Sardauna Local Government Area.

The eye witness further explained that the gunmen who came in two vehicles, forced Mohammed into one of vehicle’s and took him to an unknown destination.

When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, Taraba State Command, ASP David Misal, confirmed the incident.

ASP Misal who said, the command has swung into action with investigations, in order to fetch out the perpetrators and secure the release of the lawmaker, called on the public to give police useful information to the kidnap.

Effort to reach out to family members of the kidnapped Mohammed, who is the Chairman, House Standing Committee on Information at the State Assembly, failed because of their fear to speak to press, however, the kidnappers are yet to establish communication with the family as at press time.
