A lecturer and Head of Department (HOD), History and International Relations, Veritas University, Abuja, Dr John Adole was Sunday abducted by unknown gunmen in Otukpo, Benue State.
The Voice gathered that the lecturer, was abducted with his driver and others.
The kidnappers, numbering about five, all armed with sophisticated rifles at about 9:47pm, on Sunday, May 1, 2022, kidnapped some persons in an unidentified black saloon car and others in a white Toyota Hilux, on the road leading to Ipoint Hotel, behind Double’K Hotel, Otukpo.
According to two eyewitnesses, Alegu Adadu, and John Acha; two vehicles, a black and white Toyota Hilux littered with bloodstains were abandoned without their occupants. According to them, “there is an indication that some of the abductees were also shot by the kidnappers.”
Adadu further stated that, “it is surprising that Otukpo which was once the most secured and peaceful city in the Benue South, has suddenly transformed into a den of kidnappers.”
Dr Adole is said to have been in Otukpo, attending his elder sister’s burial.
As at the time of filing this report, the whereabout of the victims was still unknown and effort to reach the Police and council chairman for comment was futile.
