A young man, identified as Ogaba Udeh, was in the twilight of Wednesday evening, stabbed to death by another young man simply called Aboss, over an argument.
The Voice gathered that, the duo were engaged in heated argument which led to exchange of insults, when Aboss, brought out a knife he had hid in his pocket and stabbed the victim who was rushed to the hospital but could not make it as he gave up the ghost on the way.
Following this development, some youths in the town embarked on a protest by burning tires and blocking the Ella Market Road on Thursday morning, and later marched to the Otukpo Police Station, where the DPO addressed them with a call for them to remain calm as he would do his best to bring the culprit to book.
However, Pandemonium later broke out when some hoodlums hijacked the protest, barricading the township roads, causing traders at the market to scamper for safety, while their wares were vandalized.
The situation was only brought under control with the intervention of the police and the military that came and dispersed the mob.
When The Voice contacted the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, for confirmation, Catherine Anene, she said she was not aware of the incident as at the time of filing this report.
Efforts to reach the Chairman of Otukpo Local Government for comment failed as he did not respond to the phone calls.
However, the Otukpo Divisional Police Officer, Ibrahim Yahaya, confirmed that the victim was stabbed to death in the heat of an argument by the suspect who is now at large.
Meanwhile the area where the incident happened, has been completely deserted and the ever- busying Ella Market evening trading did not hold as discovered by our correspondent, who went round the area on Thursday evening.
