Mentally challenged girl murdered in Otukpo

A Tiv girl identified as Kuva Anusa-Gor popularly known as As-a-babe was on Thursday night murdered by unknown persons and her body dumped beside Norcross Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Otukpo.

According to the Tiv Community Youth President in Otukpo, Philip Agbo and one Edward Yisa, the deceased hails from Mbayion, Gboko Local Government.

Speaking to newsmen Friday, Agbo said the deceased was found with serious cuts on her head and had one of her eyes removed.

Shortly before her death, the late As-a-babe was said to have informed friends that she was visiting her lover, an Alhaji at Sabon Gari, Otukpo before the incident occurred.

Confirming the report, the Otukpo Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Bawa Yahaya, said investigation is on-going, with a promise that perpetrators will be apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law.

Reacting, the Och’Otukpo, Dr John Eimonye, while condemning the act, condoled with the Tiv community in Otukpo and urged them to remain calm as the authorities are working to unveil those behind the dastardly act, even as he prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul.

The deceased, who was mentally challenged was said to be married with two children.

Her remains have been released to her relations for burial at her home town.
