A socio-cultural organisation known as Masev, Iharev and Nongov Development Association (MINDA) support group has condemned in totality the profiling of Governor Samuel Ortom by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and called on him to retract his statement. MINDA comprises of Makurdi, Guma,  Gwer-West and Gwer Local Government Areas

The group made this known Wednesday at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi during a  solidarity march in support of the governor which was led by Engr Terhide Utaan.

Governor Ortom, who received the group personally, thanked them for the encouragement and for standing with him. He assured them that he will continue to work for the interest of the people in the state by protecting them.

The governor maintained that nobody can stop his 2023 Senatorial ambition except God. “The power to elect me is in the hands of God and the electorates and not any individual,” he said.

He emphasised that PDP in the state had no problem and therefore, assured that they will win all positions at the state level.

Governor Ortom reiterated his earlier call on the national leadership of the PDP to employ its internal conflict resolution mechanism to resolve the crisis rocking the party at the national level.

Earlier, in a remark, leader of the MINDA support group, Engr Utaan expressed his commitment and that of the MINDA people to the governor. “We will remain loyal to your administration and continue to give you the needed support,” he stated.

Utaan, who said the presidential candidate of the PDP was wrong in his utterances against Governor Ortom, expressed his disappointment in the PDP presidential candidate, who has shown no sympathy for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), who were in the present conditions as of Fulani herdsmen killings and flood.

He lamented the prolonged stay of the IDPs in camps and urged the federal government to extend a hand of support to the over two million IDPs, in order for them to return to their ancestral homes.

On their parts, Terver Girgba, Mrs Torkwase Nyikaa and Barr Tijani Amed, who spoke on behalf of the Hausa community in the state,  unanimously expressed their unwavering support to the governor, stating that they will vote for him massively and all the PDP candidates in the state.

They equally condemned the profiling of Governor Ortom by Abubakar and called on him to retract his statement.
