The Nasarawa State House of Assembly committee on Women Affairs has promised to assist the State Ministry of Women Affairs in enhancing the welfare of women, children and person living with disabilities.
The Chairman of the committee, Hon. Hajara Danyaro -Ibrahim who represents Nasarawa Central at the assembly stated this on Monday when she received the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Rufai Ibrahim who paid her a visit in her office in Lafia.
Hon. Danyaro- Ibrahim who spoke on the significant role of the ministry in enhancing the welfare of women, children and persons living with disabilities and their general wellbeing of the the people, reiterated the state assembly’s commitment towards giving the ministry all the needed support to succeed.
“I want to commend you for the visit to brief the committee on the activities of the ministry before the budget defence.

”We will work in synergy with you in order to improve on the welfare of the women, disabled and other vulnerable groups in the state,” she said.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Rufai- Ibrahim said she was in her office alongside lined agencies of the ministry to acquaint themselves with the House committee ahead of budget defence and assessment.
“The ministry is in your office for familiarisation visit to brief the committee on the activities of the ministry and it challenges before the official budget defense,” she stated.
The Voice reports that the visit was centred on emerging issues such as the welfare of women, persons living with disabilities in the society, child abuse and out of school children.
Other issues included; street begging, hawking and ways to achieve violence free society as government empowerment programmes were also discussed.
