The Nasarawa State government has flagged off the training of 2,000 youths and women drawn from across the 13 local government areas of the state on various skills acquisition programmes.
The State Governor, Abdullahi Sule disclosed this on Monday in Toto Local Government Area during the flag-off of his re-election campaign bid.
Sule, who is seeking re-election as governor of the state for second term on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections, explained that his administration decided to embark on the training programme to ensure prosperity for residents of the state.
He said that the beneficiaries would be taught tailoring, welding, barbing, Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills, among others.
The governor assured of his commitment to initiate more programmes and projects that would improve on the standard of living of residents of the state, if re-elected as governor in 2023.
“We have commenced the training of 2,000 youths and women in the state, and I want to assure the residents of Toto LGA that many of them will be part of the skill acquisition programme which is aimed at improving their living standards.
“I have done so much and still doing my best in the area of education, healthcare, agriculture, security, empowerment, employment, infrastructure, among others. And I promise to do more if I am re-elected into office in the coming elections,” he stated.
Sule, appreciated members of the APC and all stakeholders in the LGA for their continuous support to him since he assumed office in 2019.
He appealed to the people to support him, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, who is from the area and all the candidates of the APC to enable them succeed, come 2023.
On his part, the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu, called on the people of the area to re-elect the governor and also vote for the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“The people of the state will enjoy more dividends of democracy if Governor Sule is re-elected in 2023. He had performed well and he is still performing in all sectors of the state’s economy.
“I also want to urge the residents of Toto LGA to vote for our presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the APC in Nasarawa state because they have the pedigree and competence to deliver,” he said.
Earlier, in his remark, the Chairman of Toto LGA, Abdullahi Aliyu-Tasha, commended Governor Sule for his efforts in developing the area and the state at large.
He assured of his supporters readiness to massively vote for candidates of the APC in 2023.
The Voice reports that the event was also attended by the governor’s deputy and running mate, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, immediate past governor of the state, Sen. Umaru Al-Makura, state APC Chairman, John Mamman, all members of the APC campaign council and supporters of the party.
