Member, representing Kokona East Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Daniel Ogazi has donated the sum of N10,000 each to 300 women in his constituency, in order to improve their standard of living.
Ogazi, who is the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, made the distribution on Thursday at his residence in Garaku, Kokona Local Government Area of the State.
According to him, the gesture was to improve on the standard of living of women and support their families amidst the economic challenges facing the country.
He explained further that the money was in continuation of his annual empowerment in his constituency, saying that 50 women were selected from each of the five electoral wards through a committee that was earlier set up.
Ogazi, therefore, called on the women to ensure proper utilisation of the fund, assuring that he will continue purposeful leadership to the people of the constituency.
“I want to urge the women to use the money to start a small business to enable them become self reliant,” he said.
On their parts, the Speaker, Kokona Legislative Council, Abu Philip, and Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule, Manasseh Nidan, advised the people to be united and not to be deceived by selfish politicians just as they urged them to replicate same gesture to the member by voting him come 2023.
Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke with The Voice separately, including Saudatu Hassan and Sa’adatu Bala both appreciated the lawmaker for the kind gesture and prayed God to reward him abundantly.
The Voice reports that the beneficiaries where drawn from the five electoral wards that constitute Kokona East Constituency mostly widows and the less privileged.
