The Police in Nasarawa State have arrested a suspected notorious robber, Kabiru Yusuf, recovering one AK 47 riffle and a motorcycle in Fadaman Bauna Community, Lafia Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
A statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) , DSP Ramhan Nansel said the arrest was based on credible information from members of the public.
According to him, operatives of the Police Command’s anti- robbery team on intelligence led patrol along Fadaman Bauna and intercepted a group of three young men suspected to be robbers who were riding on an unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle.
He explained that the suspects quickly abandoned the motorcycle and took to their heels on sighting the Police men, but were given a hot chase with lead to the arrest of one of them, Kabiru Yusuf while two other escaped.
The PPRO further revealed that a fake soldier was also arrested by two Army personnel who came home on pass and have been handed over to the Police at Awe Division, in Awe LGA of the state.
He said: “On 6/1/2024 at about 1739hrs, one Muhammed Haladu ‘M’ of behind Ozas Hotel, Karu Abuja was arrested on full military camouflage at Awe LGA by two soldiers who came home on pass and handed him over to the Police at Awe Division.
“The suspect who claimed to be a soldier attached to 231 Battalion Biu, Borno State, was proved otherwise upon investigation. The criminal defrauded unsuspecting members of the public under the pretext of securing employment into the Nigeria Army.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect attempted to join the military but couldn’t, thus, went to military barracks to purchase the uniform he was using for his nefarious activities.”
He, therefore said that the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Umar Nadada, commended the officers for a job well done and urged them not to relent in the fight against criminals in the state.
