Nasarawa State Goverment has fixed Monday, October 5, 2020 for the reopening of primary and secondary schools in the state.
The state Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Hajiya Fatu Sabo, stated this on Friday while briefing Journalists in Lafia.
According to her, Governor Abdullahi Sule approved the date for public and private schools to begin the third term of 2019/2020 academic session , saying the term would terminate on December 18 while a new session would begin in January 4, 2021.
Hajiya Sabo further stated that already teachers were sensitised on how to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols and protective equipment were provided in schools, adding that machinery were on ground to ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
“The resumption is for public and private schools.
“This followed the submission of a report by a committee set up by the state government comprising stakeholders to work out modalities for the safe reopening of schools,” she said.
