The Speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Abdullahi has expressed sadness over the demise of the Ekiti State over Assembly Funminiyi Afuye.
The Speaker, in a condolence message issued on recently by his Press Secretary, Mr Jibrin Gwamna described the sudden death of the Ekiti Speaker as shocking, painful and colossal.
“What a sad news. I am at loss and dumbfounded. Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye was a man of honour, peace and integrity and he died at a time his service is needed, most especially now that the state has a new Governor and needed his guide to consolidate on the state’s developmental strides.
“May God forgive his shortcomings and give the family the fortitude to bear this huge loss,” he said.
He noted that God gives life and takes at his appointed time and urged the government and people of the state, friends and associates to see his demise as an act of God and continue to pray for the repose of his soul.
The Voice reports that the late Speaker died on Wednesday at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, where he was receiving treatment after suffering a cardiac arrest.
The deceased, a former Commissioner for Information, was elected and inaugurated as the Speaker of the 6th Ekiti State House of Assembly on June 6, 2019 and died at the age of 66.
