The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Lucky Isaac-Yargwa has charged staff of the ministry to work as a team, in order to actualise the policies and programmes of the Abdullahi Sule-led administration.
Isaac-Yargwa gave the charge on Tuesday at a welcome ceremony organised for the newly deployed Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Isah Mohammed Eya.
The commissioner urged staff to be up and doing in their duties for the overall growth and development of the ministry and state at large.
He stated that truancy and indiscipline will no longer be tolerated, saying that strict measures will be meted on anyone found wanting.
The commissioner, who welcomed the new permanent secretary, charged him to put in his best in the discharge of his duties for the overall good of the state.
“Your coming is apt and timely as it will help us to actualise our goals and aspirations.
“We will accord you all the necessary support to excel,” he said.
He commended the out-gone covering permanent secretary, saying his inputs have contributed greatly to the development of the ministry, even as he called on the staff to cooperate with the new permanent secretary to enable him succeed.
In his remark, the new permanent secretary thanked his promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear, in line with the mandate of the ministry, aimed at actualising its goals and aspirations.
“I am coming into a new environment, and I believe that those who are here are experienced, dedicated and hardworking and will make the job easy for me.
“I will continue from where the covering permanent secretary stopped, prior to my coming here. We must work as a team to get the desired results.
“I wish to assure you that I will do everything humanly possible to give value addition to this ministry and make our impacts felt,” he said.
He added that he would work in synergy with everyone, irrespective of his or her status, to further improve staff competency and better productivity.
Earlier, the out-gone covering PS, Umar Abubakar, appreciated the commissioner and all staff of the ministry for the relationship he enjoyed while covering as the PS of the ministry.
He, called on them to lend their support to the new permanent secretary by giving him the needed cooperation to enable him succeed.
The Voice reports that the new permanent secretary until his recent appointment and subsequent deployment, was the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics (DPRS) at the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB).
He took over from the Director of Youth Development, Mr Abubakar, who covered the ministry as permanent secretary for eight months.
