Nasarawa State’s women and youth groups have applauded President Bola Tinubu for naming Iman Suleiman Ibrahim, as minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Ibrahim, a female indigene of the state is
known for her humanitarian deeds across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state over the years due to her over two decades of technical, administrative, and executive expertise in the public and commercial sectors.
Speaking at a rally held in Lafia on Thursday, the Director General of the state’s Human Capital Development Agency, Habiba Balarabe-Suleiman, who spoke for the groups, said the appointment of the ministerial nominee had brought great joy to many residents of the state.
She said, “We are here today to express our gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing one of us, Hon. Iman Suleiman Ibrahim as Minister. Since we got the news of her appointment, we have been very happy because women and youths are hardly appointed as Minister but the President has given us a sense of belonging by appointing her to serve as a member of the federal executive council.
“Fortunately for us, the good people of Nasarawa State, we know that we can trust her because she is someone who has the passion to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the society.
“We are very sure that she will do exceedingly well as Minister. So, we want to express our gratitude to the President and Governor Abdullahi Sule for the opportunity given to women to be involved in governance.”
On her part, Women Leader of the State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Blessing Ebuga, lauded the president for being gender inclusive and reassured him that women in the state will continue to support the success of his administration.
Earlier, Governor Sule while receiving the women and youth groups at his office in Lafia, promised to give them more opportunities both at the state and federal levels.
Sule, who spoke through the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Jibrin Giza, further urged them to continue to be good ambassadors of the state whenever they are given opportunities to serve in public offices.
The Voice reports that the Nasarawa State Head of Service, Barr Abigail Waya; the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sule on Youth Development, Shuaibu Sani, among others were present at the rally.
Ibrahim was one of those nominated on July 27, 2023 by President Tinubu to serve as members of his cabinet.
