A member of the newly inaugurated Board of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, and Vice Chairman/CEO, Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, Dominic Iorfa has said, he is optimistic that the new board members will transform the domestic league.
Iorfa made the declaration on Wednesday, after their inauguration by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau in Abuja.
The Vice Chairman said, “I want to appreciate the NFF for the honour given me to serve my country in that capacity and my colleagues in the Clubs Owners Association for trusting me to represent them and to also contribute to the growth of our football at this precious period.
He stressed that, “Our domestic league has encountered setbacks in the previous years and it is time for stability and growth. We have to come together as a football family and work hard to transform our domestic league because the bedrock of any successful football association in the world is the league and we have accepted the challenge from the NFF President to reform the NPFL.
He explained that, “the league gave ex-players like me the opportunity to achieve football stardom and we must not neglect the league and our football heritage. We need to bring glamour back to the league, we need to make it competitive and more reformative. We need the support of the ecosystem and we will work hard to take our League to the top level”.
Iorfa’s precedence and how he was able to raise Lobi Stars FC from its decline, gave hope to many football lovers in Nigeria that the new NPFL board would transform the domestic league.
The inauguration of the board headed by Gbenga Elegbeleye included ex-players and football administrators in Nigeria, was witnessed by the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu and other NFF members.
