The Police Command in Nasarawa State has disclosed that the new Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Muhammed Baba posted to the command has assumed office.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in state, DSP Ramhan Nansel said the arrival of the new CP is sequel to the recent elevation of the former Commissioner of Police, AIG Adesina Soyemi, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police and his subsequent redeployment to Makurdi, Benue State in charge of Police Zone 4.
According to Nansel, CP Baba has solicited for support and cooperation of all stakeholders in the state to enable him succeed in his new assignment.
Nansel revealed that the new CP is an investigative giant, operational tactician and astute administrator, who was born on October 24, 1963.
He said: “The Commissioner of Police hails from Bida, Niger State and was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in International Studies from the premier, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Studies from University of Calabar.
“In the course of his career sojourn, he has served as Divisional Police officer in Lagos, FCT and Ogun State; Officer in Charge of Monitoring Unit, Zone 2 and 5, Lagos and Edo State respectively.
“Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police was one time 2i/c, Zonal State Criminal Investigation Department, Zone 6, Calabar.
“Upon his promotion to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police, he was posted as Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal and Investigation Department, Gusau, Zamfara and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations in Anambra State where he served meritoriously.
“Similarly, CP Maiyaki Muhammed Baba was Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations in Borno and Katsina State, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department Anambra and Kaduna State, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Finance and Administration, Zone 14, Katsina State and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Finance and Administration, Kebbi State until his promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police and posted to Nasarawa State.”
He also said that the new CP has undergone some courses of career advancement such as Advance Detective course, 1995, Intermediate Command course and Internal Security/Low Intensity Conflict course both in 2009.
“He is a recipient of many awards for low-intensities including reading, playing volley ball and travelling,” he concluded.
