The Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Niger State, Hon. Haliru Zakari Jinkantoro has resigned from his position as the state chairman of the party.
“I on my own, I humbly wish to resign from my position as the party chairman in the state,” he said.
He explained that his resignation from his position may likely add value to the state progress in the nearest future.
“I don’t have issues with my colleague, you can see the special adviser on political to the Governor Umar Mohammed Bago is here with us.”
“There is no crisis, no fight just a voluntary resignation, ” he said.
“It is necessary to brief my state party executives on the resolutions of the 12th National Executive Council (NEC) held in Abuja on the 3rd of August 2023.”

He stated that the meeting was aimed at filling in the gap by the recent development following the resignation of the National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu and secretary, Sen. Iyiola Omisore.
Hon. Jinkantoro disclosed that the NEC meeting comprises President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shetima and all APC governors and lawmakers as well as other top officials.
Speaking after the briefing, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Politics, Alhaji Mohammed Nma Kolo said there is no friction in the party, noting that Jikantoro announced his decision during a meeting on Thursday with the Governor, SSG, Speaker and himself, who insisted despite persuasion before Governor Mohammed Umar Bago accepted his resignation.
Meanwhile, an Acting Chairman of APC has been appointed in Niger State. He is Aminu Bobi. Before his appointment, he was the former Zonal Chairman, Zone C of the party in the state.
In his remarks, the acting chairman promised to strengthen and reposition the party for better, before a special congress is held to usher in a substantive chairman.
