The Niger State House of Assembly has passed into law the supplementary budget of Two Hundred and Thirty, Billion, Three Hundred Million Naira (N230, 300, 000,000,000.00)
The Chairman House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Zubairu Isma’ila while presenting his committee’s report on the year 2023 supplementary budget, said that the budget was necessitated by expected additional 187 billion naira inflow from UBA, 42 billion naira Federal Government infrastructural grant and one billion, 300 million naira NCNI series 3 bond bringing to 230 billion, 300 million naira.
He said that the funds will help the state government to finance critical projects that will stimulate growth and development of the state.
Hon. Isma’ila explained that the supplementary budget comprises 19 billion, 081 million, 650 thousand, 088 hundred, 94 naira as recurrent expenditure, while 211 billion, 218 million, 349 thousand, 911 hundred 06 naira as capital expenditure.
He further stated that the supplementary budget covers personnel, overhead and capital expenditures.
The House after the chairman’s report considered the supplementary budget clause by clause before passing it into law.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji directed the Clerk of the House to transmit clean copies of the bill to the Executive arm.
The Speaker said even though members were on a six-week recess, the House acted in the interest of the state by recalling them to consider and pass the supplementary budget.
