The Niger State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed 30 commissioner nominees forwarded to it by Governor Umar Muhammad Bago as members of the State Executive Council.
The confirmation followed the completion of the screening of the last batch of commissioner nominees and presentation of a report by the sypeaker and Chairman Committee of the whole, Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin Daji during the plenary last Thursday .
The Speaker while presenting the report said the nominees were screened as all of them met the criteria to serve as commissioners in the state and commended the governor for the calibre of people he nominated.
He described the credentials of the 30 nominees as enriching and urged them to be committed to the service of the state.
The Speaker explained that with their confirmation, the nominees have now become commissioners-designate
He said: “The executive arm of government led by the Governor can now proceed to swear them into office and assign them portfolios.”
Hon. Sarkin Daji commended the lawmakers for their commitment in screening the nominees and directed the Clerk to communicate the House’s resolution to executive governor for further action.
The Voice reports that the Niger House of Assembly had earlier screened the first batch of the commissioner nominees on August 8, while the remaining batch was screened on August 9,2023 as scheduled by the House leadership.
