The Niger State House of Assembly has urged the state government to as a matter of urgency address the challenge of inadequate pipe borne water supply within Suleja Metropolis and extend supply of the product to old and new settlements at the outskirts of Suleja Local Government Area of the state.
This followed a matter of urgent public importance raised by member representing Suleja Constituency, Hon. Murtala Badaru during Wednesday’s plenary.
The lawmaker who expressed dismay over the problem of access to potable water in Suleja communities, particularly the issue of dilapidated pipelines which connect water to different districts and households within the town, said it is the responsibility of any responsible government to cater for the security, welfare, and access to basic amenities of livelihood of the its citizens.
Badaru noted that access to clean pipe borne water is essential in order to curb outbreaks of epidemics and diseases.
In another development , the State Assembly has called on the state government to as a matter of urgency complete Dana Round About to Flour Mill road and Unguwar Kadara to Gbednayi road in Bosso Local Government Area of the state.
This was sequel to a motion raised by the member representing Bosso Constituency, Architect Suleiman Abubakar Gomna during the plenary.
The lawmaker explained that the Dana Round About- Flour Mill bye-pass was initiated by the administration of the former Governor, Muazu Babangida Aliyu to decongest traffic within Minna City but has not been completed, thereby subjected residents of the area to several attacks by armed robbers.

Hon. Gomna stressed that unless the state government completes, the construction of the road, the spate of armed robbery attacks in the communities residing within these roads would always be on the rise which could lead to loss of human life.
In their submissions, the member representing Tafa Constituency Muhammad Sani Idris, and that of Suleja Murtala Badaru, as well as that Isah Muhammad Etsu Gaie of Again Isah while supporting the motion all said it is the responsibility of the government to save lives and property of the citizens and in line with the governor’s policy of urban renewal, it is important for the government to address the situation.
