Niger State Governor, Umar Mohammed Bago was among other North Central governors who paid a solidarity visit in honour of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Sen. George Akume.
The visit which was at the instance of stakeholders from the Benue South took place at the Abuja residence of the SGF.
The Governors of Benue, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia and that of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, were also at the event aimed at fostering unity and understanding among the people of Benue State.

Speaking to journalists after the gathering, Governor Umar Bago described the SGF as their own, and promised unwavering support of the zone to him to succeed and also ensure the development of the North Central states.
He commended the people of Benue South for identifying with the SGF as one of their own, adding that it was an impressive outing.
“This is very impressive and the people of the southern part of Benue have shown solidarity and love to our own, the SGF and we came here to also support him and to promise him our unwavering support. We are with him for the development of the North Central”, he said.
Also speaking, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia said, Benue State is unique and called on the people to remain united as there is a tie that binds them together than the things that divide them.
In order to confirm their trust in the abilities and leadership of Sen. George Akume, the stakeholders from the Benue South passed a vote of confidence on him and also presented him with an award of recognition.
