The Niger State Government is set to partner the Federal Government for more intervention on water works in the state.
Governor Mohammed Bago disclosed this when he received on a courtesy call, the Honourable Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof Joseph Utsev on Tuesday at Government House, Minna.
Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu, the Governor said: “Niger State is the mother of all dams in northern Nigeria, hence their is the need to revive the sector and put it in good condition order to engage more youth for the progress of achieving the administration’s dream of a new Niger”
Governor Bago appealed to the minister to facilitate making the state a waterfall hub in order to contribute to its economy and that of the country at large.

Earlier, Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof.Joseph Utsev, said the aim of the visit was to collaborate with the state government in the areas of irrigation and water supply using Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority, UNRBDA, which is under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.
The minister explained that the ministry was charged with the responsibility of developing water resources for multi-purpose use of Niger, Kaduna and FCT.
Prof. Utsev further emphasised the need for sustained collaboration in the water sector and informed the Governor about a dam that would be used for water supply to some local government areas like Agaie, Lapai, Gbako, Egbea and Gaba for irrigation purposes.
He requested for land to be used for irrigation farming so as to make food available all year round to the state and country at large.
Prof Utsev, used the visit to congratulate the Governor on his victory at the last polls and applauded all his achievements so in office.
