The Niger State Government has concluded arrangements to host the National Green Economy Summit slated for 24th and 25th October, 2023 in Minna, the state capital.
A statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman disclosed that the Summit is aimed at repositioning the state for sustainable socio-economic development as well as the green investment hub of the country.
According to him “the Summit which will coincide with the United Nations Day for climate advocacy and International Day for Climate Action, will also underscore the resolve to partake in achieving collective global goals through responsible local action”.
The SSG further explained that the summit will also bring together policymakers, industry leaders, academia, local and international sector experts, non-governmental organisations, international development partners, investors, local communities and other relevant stakeholders to pave the way for an inclusive green economy and a sustainable future for the state and the country at large.
The theme of the Summit which is: “Harnessing Green Assets and Innovation for Niger State’s Prosperity”, will unlock the state’s green economy potentials and achieve prosperity for the people of the state, the statement stressed.
He, further revealed that the State Green Economy Summit will provide concrete actions that will lead to a greener, more sustainable, and prosperous future for the state and the citizenry.
