Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said that Nigerians will revolt against the All Progressives (APC) using the ballot in 2023 due to what he termed “abysmal performance of the APC-led administration at the centre which has battered the economy and worsened security.”
He stated this Monday at Tse-Agberagba, Konshisha Local Government Area of the state, while receiving defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC ) into the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
The governor, who gave assurances that the PDP will reclaim the leadership of Nigeria in the 2023 general elections was also upbeat that the party will win all elective positions in the state.
“PDP will not only retain Benue in the 2023 general elections but also win the three senatorial seats, the 11 House of Representatives positions and all 32 seats for the Benue State House of Assembly.
“I remain committed to protecting the interest of Benue people as my core mandate and I will continue to resist invasion of the Benue land in whatever guise,” he said.
Governor Ortom urged members of the party to be united and rebuild the party to enable it become strong for the challenges ahead, while promising the decampees of equal opportunities in the PDP, stressing that everyone will be treated equally.
Addressing party faithful, Senator representing Benue North East, Sen. Gabriel Suswam appealed to the people to come out enmass and register massively in the voter’s registration exercise to give the PDP landslide victory in 2023.
“Governor Ortom is a fighter and true defender of his people who has all it takes to represent his people,” he stated.
Chairman of the PDP in the state, John Ngbede, in a remark described the recent defection of PDP members into the APC in Gwer West and Kwande Local Government Areas as a scam.
Some of the defectors, who include Shimawua Azaigba, Ugba Alough, Engr Baby Again, Tyokula Yainjoh, among others separately said they decided to join the PDP to join forces with the governor and other leaders to liberate Benue.
