No Fulani security outfit was launched in Benue-Ode

The Benue State Government has debunked rumours making the rounds that a Fulani Security Outfit was launched in the state.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Sam Ode disclosed this Friday night while addressing Journalists at his office in Makurdi.
Recall that the main opposition party in the state, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), through her Publicity Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom had in a statement on June 6, 2023 accused the state government of being represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Sam Ode through his Chief Protocol Officer, Gabriel Igoche at the launch of a security out fit in the state known as Al-Tershak Global Security Ltd established by one Alhaji Aliyu Tershaku and having Fulani ethnic stock among its top commanders.
Dr Ode who described the rumours as calculated attempt by mischievous persons to discredit the Alia-led administration, explained that the Alia-led administration at no time okayed the launch of any such security outfit, insisting that he nor Governor Alia did not have a hand in the formation of any security outfit in the state.
“The masterminds of that plot intend to bring us back to the sad days of insecurity in the state where we had challenges of farmer-herder clashes in the state. It is a calculated attempt to scare the people of the state”, he stated
The deputy governor maintained that, at no time did he authorize anyone to represent him or the state government at any Fulani Security Summit or the Commissioning of the outfit.
He enjoined the people of the state to ignore the plot by mischievous elements whose intention is to drag the state government into a non-existent controversy.
Dr Ode called on the people of the state to have confidence in the Alia-led administration, adding that the security of lives and properties in the state is in the front burner of the administration.
“The Alia-led administration is poised towards addressing all security challenges in the state and the resettlement of IDPs across the state. We aim to address these issues. We shall not relent in it”, he stressed.
