Who ever invented the idiom: “a man does not chase rats when his home is on fire,” never envisioned the future Nigeria.
He or she never imagined the breed of politicians, that contemporary Nigeria will be plagued with.
Our “dear” political leaders are not only pursuing rats while the country burns, they are making use of the heat from the fire, to prepare for themselves barbecue, with the rats they had caught. Leaving the whole country to go down in flames.
All we get from these political swindlers in the face of wide spread killing, unemployment, hunger and societal devastation; is a captivating play to the gallery, and shameful distractions from the real problems destroying the soul of the nation.
Oga Ortom: Oga Buhari, you are the one arming your brothers to kill my people, and you don’t want to say anything, you demented cattle herder.
Oga Buhari: I cannot deny that I am a cattle herder. So you want me to talk, ordinary table manners you cannot observe. In fact, honorable minister ban every media channel these people are talking from.
Oga Ortom: But you are the oga at the top, come and fight this people for us.
Oga Buhari: wali! Young man you don’t know what you are saying, I am now the oga of the United African republic. Wait a moment! after calling me a herds man you want me to come and fight for you? I thought you ran for elections in your area? Solve your problem by yourself, you can not sit in your house and expect someone else to do your job.
When I was younger, we lived in an Abbey, sheltered by the only wooden house, next to the compound of the house of an assembly member, representing a zone in Rivers State.
Every morning, a crowd of young and old people gathered at his gate to make demands.
He will drive out with his two police vans, one at the front and one behind ignoring these people.
His security men flung whips at anyone who dares to stop their master’s convoy, dispersing the crowd and speeding off.
I always stopped to watch this drama, I was elated in my naivity, because I thought the Honorable member didn’t owe these “beggers” anything.
I thought they were lazy, and irresponsible, that was why they pestered him with their problems.
Time thought me that I was wrong; I got to know that many of them didn’t come to him for money. Some came because they needed him to sign on a document, which only him could sign; some came to narrate their ordeal of oppression and solicit for his intervention, while others came to be given sincere financial empowerment, so that they can stand on their feets.
But the “Big man” who they had given their mandate now sits in the back of a tinted bullet proof jeep, with an army, deliberately positioned to scare away those that had given him their power.
What is the essence of the huge trillions spent on the president Deep Blue Project, when the enemy of the people attack them in the hinter lands, killing them on their farms, market place, and burning up their homes while they sleep at night. Did their votes not count?
The courts and legislative house of the people are closed in the face of the calamity that we face as nation. Those who we had given the torch to shine the light, that we may see the way out of darkness have destroyed the torch; because of “Financial Autonomy”.
Finally, when Oga Chairman was beaten up, by the demons they had created from their greed; all of a sudden, the courts have started working again.
I will not say anything, since they have made me swore never to talk my mind as a copper. Let me come and be going, before they knack me service extension without pay.
